RECOGNIZING THE
EMPLOYEES OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
AND THE 2004 "CONTRA COSTA COUNff CAMS"HOLIDA Y FOOD DRIVE
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County departments and employees enthusiastically rose to the challenge to raise funds
andfoodthe Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano during the 2004 holiday season;and
for
WHEREAS,, the 2"d Annual Contra Costa County Cares Challenge raised food and funds equivalent to 180,000
pound;offoo4 or l28%over its goal of 149 00 pounds,and
WRERE,4S far departmental goals of 15 pounds per
.. the following departments and team leaders exceeded their de
employee by astronomical percentages of their department goals:

WHEREAS, Contra Costa County challenged Solano County in a "Counties Care"duel, increasing the amount-of
finds raised for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano by at least$16,000,and
WHEREAS, this impressive generosity will help the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano in providing food to
over 84,000 low-income residents of Contra Costa and Solano counties throughout the months to come;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby applauds
the trophies awarded to the above-named departments and congratulates all participating County departments and their
tireless leaders for their inspired efforts on behay"of their community and those in need,-and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County thanks all County employees
and residents for participating in the 2004 Contra Costa County Cares Holiday Food Drive and urges all citizens of Contra
Costa County and their communities to recognize the merits and imperativeness of this cause and to give generously to the
Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano throughout the year to come,including the 2005 Contra Costa County Cares Holiday
Food Drive.
