SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
1. APPROVE the First Amendment to Leese with Michael C. Scranton for the premises at 2450
Stanwell Drive, Suites 200, 210, 220 & 270, Concord to allow the Health Services Department to
continue occupancy of Suites 200 & 210, under the terms and conditions more particularly set
forth in the First Amendment to Lease.
2. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services, or designee, to EXECUTE the First Amendment
to Lease,
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The First Amendment allows the Health Services Department to continue occupancy of Suites 200 &
210 on a month-to-month holdover basis at a rental rate of $2,280 per month. In the absence of the
First Amendment, the County would have been obligated to pay a rental of $7,275 per month, plus
utilities, for holding over beyond May 31, 2004.
BACKGROUND
As of May 31, 2004 the occupants of 2450 Stanwell Drive, Suites 220 and 270 moved out, but the
new space for the TeenAge Program, currently occupying Suites 2030 & 210, will not be ready for
several weeks. The First Amendment to Lease allows continued occupancy of Suites 200 & 210 at a
reduced rental rete and transfers responsibility for utilities to the Lessor. The Health Services
Department will terminate the lease for 2450 Stanwell Drive when the TeenAge Program moves out.
