D. ) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #26-484-1 with Asian Community Mental Health Services, Inc. , a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $120, 000, to provide translation services for Mental Health Southeast Asian refugees at the Richmond Health Center, for the period from July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005. FISCAL „ ACT: T'his Contract is funded by Enterprise I Budget. BACKGR©M IMMON(S) FOR RECO N 7ATION(S} : According to the National Standards for Culturally Appropriate Services in health care, health care organizations are required to provide language assistance services at no cost to each patient with limited English proficiency, as well as, to patients who use sign language to communicate. In order to be in compliance with this mandate, the hospital and health centers has requested Asian Community Mental Health to provide translation services for the Ambulatory Care Unit. On December 9, 2003, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-484 with Asian Community Mental Health, to provide translation services to Southeast Asian refugees at the County' s Richmond Health Center including family case management services, for the period from July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004 . BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECUMM ENDATIONN: Linder this Contract #26-492, Cardinal Health, 101, Inc., will provide services of remote entry of physician medication orders for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center,including, but not limited to review and entry of all medication orders into the Customer's Pharmacy information system, resolve all incomplete or questionable orders submitted by County Pharmacist, provide clinical support to hospital staff, and conduct daily briefings with the Director of Pharmacy,through May 31, 2007. In accordance with this agreement, Contractor is requesting that County agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Contractor from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, expenses or obligations arising out of, or resulting from CCRMC`s wrongful or negligent conduct in the performance of this Contract. FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is funded 100%by Enterprise I Budget funds. BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): Due to the lengthy negotiations surrounding this Contract the Department was not able to process a Contract in a timely manner. Based upon an oral agreement between the parties, the Contractor has provided services in good faith. The Department is requesting approval of this Contract to ratify the actions of the County employees. We respectfully request the approval of this retroactive contract. It did not seem appropriate to interrupt Vascular Surgery patient care services. Therefore, I made a commitment to the contractor to begin services while the format was being worked out in order to minimize the interruption of clinical services.
