THE HOARD OF SUPERVISORS
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Date: June 15204 Public Comment
On this date,the Chair invited those who wished to address the Board for Public Comment. The
following person presented testimony:
Pat Howlett, Aviation Advisory Committee (AAC), 3692 DeRosa Court, Concord
regarding the 2004/2005 AA.0 worm plan.

Contra Costa County Aviation Advisory Committee
2004-2005 Work Plan
Mission Statement: The Contra Costa Aviation Advisory Committee provides advice
and recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, the.Internal Operations Committee,
and county staff`members on aviation issues related to the county's two airports,
Buchanan Field and Byron Airport. The Committee accomplishes its mission by
exploring all interests related to aviation within the community's different publics.
AAC Goals
Goal#1: The AAC will initiate discussions, opportunities for observations or
investigations in order to learn about and become familiar with local aviation and airport
interests, issues and concerns.
Objectives:
a) Develop and strengthen interaction with airport employees, business leaders;
community residents and civic organizations to enhance communications and
understanding.
b) Provide information and recommendations to the County staff and the Beard of
supervisors.
c) Advance and promote the interests of aviation in balance with the community.
d) Protect the general welfare of people living and working near airports and
throughout the County.
Goal #2: Strengthen public awareness of, interest in, knowledge about, and respect for
local airports and their value to the community.
Objectives:
a) Schedule and promote issues and events which highlight County airports and
their value to the community at large,
b) Develop and sponsor citizens' awareness of aviation to increase understanding
and appreciation of its responsibilities and contributions to the community.
c) Support the airports' collaborations with local schools to enhance student
awareness and understanding of aviation.
e) Establish rapport with elected civic leaders and staff members whose
communities are impacted by the contributions of local airports.
Goal #3: Consistently evaluate efforts to fulfill AAC goals, and issue reports to
represented/sponsoring agencies either through written statements or public
presentations.
