County Administrative Bulletin No. 538,which governs the naming of County-owned buildings,provides that
the Board of Supervisors may,after conducting a public hearing,pass a resolution by unanimous vote to name
a County-owned building after a living individual on the basis of meritorious service. In accordance with that
Bulletin,the Knightsen Town Advisory Council has requested that Fire Station#94 be named,"The Robert V.
Pastor Fire Station#94",to allow the community to recognize Robert Pastor for his"outstanding, meritorious
service to Contra Costa County".
Robert Pastor started as a firefighter at the age of 21 and worked his way up to become the Chief of the
Oakley/Knightsen Fire Department. For years,he also organized and participated as a volunteer in many
local activities,from Halloween parties to distributing food baskets at Christmas. He retired after 43 years of
dedicated service to the residents of the County.
This request is endorsed by Senator Tom Torlakson; Assemblyman Joseph Canciamilla; Supervisor Federal
Glover, School Superintendent Vickey Rinehart; Seth H. Cockrell, Chair of the Knightsen Town Advisory
Council; Kathy Leighton; Jack Shatting,Knightsen Firefighters Association; John A. Gonzales, Knightsen
Town Advisory Council; Albert Bellow; and many other residents of Far East County.
