There is a nationwide nursing shortage, and in spite of persistent efforts to recruit nurses, the Department has,experiencec't great difficulty in filling any vacant positions. '"herefore,the Department has had to rely heavily on the registry services in order to provide quality nursing care for patients. On March 25, 2003, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract#26-374-5 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement#26.374.6)with STAT Nursing Services to provide nursing registry services, for the period from April 1, 20013 through March 31, 2004. Approval of Contract#26-374.7 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services,through March 31, 2001.5.
