E T_- This contract supports all five community outcomes: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2)"Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3)"Families that are Economically Self-Sufficient"; 4)"Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families."FPSP offers a wide range of services that benefit the community, including but not limited to enrichment activities for youth, mental healthcounseling, access and referral to community resources, childcare, employment training, recreation, and transportation. BACKGROUND: Employment and:Human Services Department(EHSD) issued. a Request For Proposals (RFP #1054) in May 2000 and selected the above community-based organizations to provide services under the Promoting Safe and Stable Families(PSSF)Program, formerly known as the Family Preservation and Support Program.. Each contractor represents a collaboration of local groups organized to develop and strengthen community resources and linkages. PSSF serves over 1,000 county residents and targets the communities of Coronado (Richmond), North Richmond, :Bay Point and Parkside (Pittsburg). BACKGRO12iDt Ms. Cooper serves as a customer service/shop dresser and as.NREC administrative assistant to provide consultant services assisting clients select appropriate garments from the Family Apparel Shop as a means of dressing for a job interview or job hunting, acquiring attire for children attending school, special occasion attire, and infant wear, avis. Cooper also provides clerical support, such as, scheduling appointments, faxing, Xerox copies, answering telephone calls, collecting raw data and preparing monthly reports. The additional funding will allow Ms. Cooper to continue to provide services to an increasing population. BACKG OLN ' Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa provides countywide education, advocacy, and support specialists to assist, support, and empower family caregivers regarding their rights and their potential roles as family caregivers of a nursing home resident who will retrain in the skilled nursing facility or who will. transition into the community. Ombudsman specialists teach family caregivers to become effective advocates on behalf of the care recipient residing in the skilled nursing facility. Services under this contract are being increased to greet the additional, ongoing demand for PACT services. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This contract is funded through the State Department of Education and is included in the Community Services Department's FY 2003-04 Budget. There is no net County cost to this contract. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Community Services Department supports two of Contra Costa County's community outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School" and "Families that are Safe, Stable and nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: Contractor shall provide temporary accounting staff services to assist the Community Services Department in meeting State Child. Development program compliance requirements. The Contractor has worked extensively with Independent Auditors to streamline the fiscal reporting system. It is in the Department's best interest to use this contractor's institutional knowledge for the time being, until a permanent employee is assigned to this position. BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(5): On June 10, 2003, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #23-2.43-7 with Superior Consultant Company, Inc., for the period from July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004, to provide consultation and technical assistance with regard to the Department's Managed Care Information System (MCIS) and other special projects as requested by County, including HIPAA training and gap analysis,pharmacy assessment, and disaster recovery.
