RECOGNIZING THE WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD
APRIL 17 THROUGH 24, 2004
WHEREAS, the East County Regional Group, in partnership with First 5 Contra Costa, the
Brentwood Women's Club, the Brentwood Diversity Committee, the Contra Costa Association for the
Education of Young Children, the Contra Costa Child Care Council, the Contra Costa Directors
Association, the Family Day Care Association, Far east County Family Resource and Learning Center,
Parents and Providers Partnering, Parent Voices, the Professional Association for Childhood Education -
APP(PACE -APP), and other local organizations, in conjunction with the National Association for the
Education of Young Children, are celebrating the Week of the Young Child April 17 through April 24,
20144;and
WHEREAS, by calling attention to the need for high-quality early childhood services for all children
and families within our community, these groups hope to improve the quality and availability of such
services;and
WHEREAS, the future of our community depends on the quality of the early childhood experiences
provided for young-children today;and
WHEREAS, children who participate in high-quality child care programs are better prepared for
and more successful when they start school,and
WHEREAS, high-quality early childhood services represent a worthy commitment to our children's
future.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County
does hereby proclaim April 17 through 24, 2404 as the Week of the Young Child and urges its fellow citizens
to recognize those who commit themselms to the care and support of young children and to join with them in
the celebratory activities leading up to and occurring throughout The Week of the Young Child.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 6th day of April 2444.
