In Contra Costa County ) RESOLUTION NO. 2004/156
WHEREAS motorcycle riding is a popular form of recreation and efficient transportation for more
than 400,000 people in California: and
9WEREA,5 the safety hazards created by automobile operators due to the difficulty of seeing
smaller objects on the streets and highways of Contra Costa County are of prime concern to
motorcyclists; and
WHEREAS it is especially important that the citizens of our county be aware of motorcycles on
the streets and highways and recognize the importance of motorcycle safety; and
WHEREAS the American Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education of California (ABATE) is an
organization that is actively ,promoting safe operation, increased rider training, and increased
motorist awareness of motorcycles.
.NOW, 7HEREFCIRE, BE IT'RES`DLVED that the Board of Supervisors declare May 2004
as MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS MONTH in Contra Costa County and urges both
motorcycle riders and automobile drivers to follow the rules of the road so all citizens will remain
safe from vehicle accidents and subsequent injuries.
PASSED ANIS ADOPTED ON, APRIL 27, 2004 by a unanimous vote of the Board
members present.
