BACKGROUND I REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION On December 16, 2003 the Beard of Supervisors opened the public hearing on the gree related actions related to the ALUC Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan: • Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan General Plan Amendment (County File: GP##02-0001). • County initiated Rezoning for conformance with the ALUC Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan. • County initiated repeal of the Airport Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 86-4, County Ordinance Code (County File: ZT#02-0004) This natter was continued to a fixed hearing date at 1:00 p.m., March 23,2004 and the Beard granted a further continuance of the public hearing to 1: 00 p.m., April 27, 2004 in order to review matters pertaining to the proposed rezoning of property near the Byron Airport,as recommended in the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan, with the ALUC. Another continuance of the public hearing to,lune 16, 2004 has been requested by the ALUC in order to review new information from the updated California Airport Lancs Use Planning Handbook, as submitted to them from the County, which relates to the appropriate zoning and densities for certain properties adjacent to the Byron Airport.Attached under Exhibit 1 is a April 21, 2004 letter from ALUC staff explaining the ALUC's request for a continuance of the public hearing. Martinez, Ca. 34553 RE; RECONSIDERATION FOR REVISING AND UPDATING RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT CRITERIA UNDER COMPATIBILITY ZONE B-2, BYRON AIRPORT POLICIES WITHIN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY AIRPORT LAND USE COMPATIBILITY PLAN Dear Mr. Roche, On April 14, 20034 the Airport Land Use Commission held a public hearing on the reconsideration requested by Contra Costa County to find the proposed rezoning of private property within the B-2 categories under the Byron Airport Policies of the Airport Land Use Compatibility flan to no longer be necessary to conform to the adopted December 2000 Compatibility Plan. County staff prepared a report that indicates new information has been published in the 2002 California Airport Handbook that was not available at the time and preparation of the existing Contra Costa.County Airport sand Use Compatibility Plan.. On a unanimous vote the Airport Land Use Commission has made the decision to consider your request and is requesting that the County recommend a continuance of this Board Order to the Board of Supervisors until June 15, 2004 to allow the Airport Land Use Commission and staff an opportunity to review the updated and new information that was presented by County staff. The Airport Land Use Commission during this extension of time will also consider the possibilities of amending the adopted December 2000 Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan on a consolidated effort with both the Byron Airport Master Plan and the 2002 California Airport Handbook, Office Hours Monday- Friday:8:00 a.m.-5:00 p,r°.
