DISTRICT I DATE: APRIL 20, 2004 PAGE 2 OF 2 111. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Additional funding is needed to pay the contractor for increases and changes in the contract work.. The additional work was needed to modify the drainage system to avoid existing utility conflicts. Additional work was also needed due to grade differences and for subdrains in the planting areas. Other additional work that was required included modifications to the photoelectric streetlight controls, striping removal, welding anchor bolts to prevent bench and trash enclosure theft, and the modification (credit) of the irrigation and planting systems. The additional work costs exceed the project contingency fund. Approval of the project contingency fund is required to compensate the contractor for the additional work. 1V. Consequences of Negative Action: The lack of approval would prevent successful completion of this contract and preclude payment to the contractor for required work.
