(District 1) Specific Request(s)or Recommendation(s)&Background&Justification 1. Recommended Action: APPROVE Amend Road Overlay project contingency fund increase of$30,000 for a new total of $40,240 effective June 1, 2003 and APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee,to execute Contract Change Order No. 1 with Redgwick Construction Company, effective June 3, 2003, in an amount not to exceed $16,000 to a new payment limit of$142,631,for existing item increases. I1. Financiallmpact: The project contingency funds are currently insufficient to coverthe increa d cost.The increase in contingency funds will be funded by Measure C Funds. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Additional funding is needed to pay the contractor for increases in contract work. The additional work was needed to repair significant areas within the project site that had deteriorated after the project had been scoped out. Also, additional pavement grinding was needed to eliminate some high points in the road and correct some drainage issues. The additional work costs exceed the project contingency fund. Approval of the project contingency fund increase is required to compensate the contractor for the additional work. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The lack of approval would prevent successful completion of this contract and preclude payment to the contractor for required work.
