Specific Request(S)or Recommendation (S)& Background and Justification RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Community Services Director or designee to execute contract #38-523-11 with Antioch Partnership for Quality Child Care Inc. in the amount of$136,858 for Expanded State Preschool program services for the period from July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This contract is State funded through the California Department of Education. Funding for this contract is included in the Community Services Department's FY 2003-04 budget. There is no net County cost to this contract. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Community Services Department Child Development Program supports two of Contra Costa County's community outcomes: "Children Deady for and Succeeding in School" and "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, health, and social services, along with a strong parent involvement focus, to low- income children throughout Contra Costa County. The overall goal of the program is to bring about a greater degree of social competence in preschool children from low-income families. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: Contra Costa County receives funds from the California Department of Education to provide state preschool services. The above listed Community Based Organization (CBO) contracts with the County as an Expanded State Preschool Delegate Agency. Approval of this contract with Antioch Partnership for Quality Child Care Inc. will allow contractor to serve a total of 48 program eligible children ages 3-5 years through June 30, 2004.
