HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04082003 - U1 07 407 00, �t.I e2 e2 In the Matter of Recognizing the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Division For Receiving National Accreditation Status RESOLUTION NO,2003/237 WHEREAS Division has received National Accreditation ,, the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Status from the Laboratory Accreditation Board of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD), and WHEREAS, in achieving this distinction, the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Division joins only 238 accredited local, state, federal and private forensic laboratories in 37 states, the District Of Columbia and five foreign countries, and WHEREAS, the Office of the Sheri Forensic Services Division is one of only a dozen agencies whose evidence storage facility has been accredited by ASCLD, and is the only agency in the State of California to meet these high standards, and WHEREAS, Accreditation Status involves the evaluation of applicant laboraforiesfor compliance in over 140 criteria representing administrative practices,personnel qualifications, training and proficiency testing oftersonnel,safety practices,quality assurance measure and operations,and security and control of evidence and facili ties, and, WHEREAS, ASCLD Accreditation is a significant accomplishment which required many months of preparation by Forensic Services Division personnel and Office of the Sheriff Administration, and., WHEREAS, ASCLD Accreditation is a voluntary program and forensic laboratories that elect to participate in accreditation demonstrate a commitment to improve the quality of forensic laboratory services provided to the criminal justice communities that they serve, NOS, EFORE,BE ITRESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the c6untyVfContra Costa does hereby recognize and congratulate the Office of the Sheriff Forensic Services Division for distinguishing themselves by achieving National Accreditation Status from the Laboratory Accreditation Board of the American Society q f Crime Laboratory Directors.
