Contra Cos& Taxpayers Association ) RESOLUTION NO. 2003/195
WHERE.4.S'John 1. Wolfe, Jr., is retiring after 11 years of service as the Executive Vice
President of the Centra Costa Taxpayers Association; and
WHEREASJohn is a California native and resident of Concord, is married to Carol, who
Is the Office Manager of the 'Taxpayers Association, and has two grown children, Wendy and
Bruce; and
MHfERE,+Li' John earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography in 1965 from the
University of California of los Angeles, took Business courses during the 1970s, and earned a
Master's degree in Taxation in 1983 from Golden Gate University; and
tW/HERWJohn served our country in the United States Air Force and is a veteran of the
Vietnam Wa,r, and
WHEREASJohn worked for 22 years at Pacific Bell in the tax management, internal audit,
and accounting divisions, uniquely preparing him for his future career with the Taxpayers
Association; and
WHE{t&S John's conscientious monitoring of government fiscal issues and vigorous
leadership in representing Association positions added greatly to the public debate and
understanding of legislation and public policy; and
WHERW John always thoroughly investigated issues of interest to his constituents and
presented the Board and the public with insightful commentaries and advice; and
WHEREA.S'John's fair and balanced presentation of the facts surrounding taxpayer issues
was always appreciated and will be missed by the Beard of Supervisors and County staff; and
WHEREAS' upon his retirement, John can dedicate more time to doing'the things he
loves, from Carol's "honey-cle list and garage projects to singing bass in the church choir and
traveling the world;
NOW, 79-ffREFO+R& RE17'RES'OLVEUthat the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors
hereby recognizes and honors John Wolfe on the occasion of his retirement after 11 years of
service as the Executive Vice President and many more years as an active member of the Contra
Costa Taxpayers Association, and thanks him for his dedicated service to the taxpayers and
citizens of Contra Costa County,
PASSED by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors members present this 811 day of April, 2003.
