SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)$BACK43ROUND AND JUSTIFICATION REC{?NMNDATION(S) : Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Jeff Smith, M,.D. ) , to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-347-6 with Medstaff, Inc . , a Corporation, effective March 1, 2003 , to amend Contract #26-347-3 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreements ##26-347-4 and #26-347-5 ) , to increase the total Contract Payment :limit by $50, 000 from $950, 000 to a new total payment limit of $1, 000, 000 . FISCAL IAC Funding for this Contract is included in the Health Services Department ' s Enterprise I budget. BACKGROM/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATIONfS : On May 21, 2002, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract ##26-347-3 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreements #26-347--4 and ##26-347-5) with Medstaff Inc. , to provide temporary nursing registry services, for the period from May 1, 2002 thorough April 30, 2003 . At the time Contract #26-347-3 (as amended by subsequent Amendments) was negotiated, the payment limit was based upon target levels of utilization. However, the utilization of services has continued to exceed the Department ' s projection. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement ##26-347-6 will allow Contractor to provide additional nursing registry services, through April 30, 2003 . FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 1004 by State Substance Abuse and Crime ?prevention Act (SACPA) - Prop 36 funds . No County funds are required. BACKGROUND/REASON g) FCR RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Substance Abuse and Crime Prevention Act of 2000 (Prep 36) has mandated and funded Counties to establish Alcohol and Other Drug (ACT) treatment programs for non-violent drug offenders in lieu of incarceration. On February 6 , 2001, the Beard of Supervisors designated the County' s Health Services Department, through its Community Substance Abuse Services Division, as the lead agency in Contra Costa County responsible for the implementation of Prop 36 treatment efforts . On December 17, 2002, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-139-1 with Bi-Rett Corporation for the period from July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003 , (with a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2003) for the provision of substance abuse intervention and treatment services . Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement ##74-139-2 will allow Contractor to provide an additional level of services to include Outpatient Intervention Treatment services, through June 30, 2003 . FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is included in the Health Services Department Enterprise I budget . BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : In October 2002, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract ##26-454 with Medic-Mobile, Inc. , for the period from July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003 , to provide non-emergency ambulance transportation services, to transport patients to and from Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, skill nursing facilities, and home, as requested by County. At the time Contract #26-454 was negotiated, the payment limit was based upon targeted levels of utilization. However, the utilization of services has exceeded the Departments projections . Approval of Contract Amendment 26-454-1 will allow the Contractor to provide additional non-emergency transportation services, through June 30, 2003 .
