BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECONEVICENDATION S On March 26, 2002,the Board of Supervisors approved Contract#23-239-6 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #23-239-7) with Eastridge Infotech, for the period from May 1, 2002 through May 31, 2003, for the provision of temporary computer services for the Department's g Y Information Systems Unit. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS : For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical,Dental and Mental Health Specialists to provide specialized professional services which are not otherwise available. On March 19, 2002, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-991-3 with Alexander Gorodetsky, M.D for the period from April 1, 2002 through March 31, 2003, for the provision of professional outpatient psychiatric services. Approval of Mental Health Specialist Contract #24-991-4 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through March 31, 2004. BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): On March 26, 2002, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-501-1 with Frank Lee to provide consultation and technical assistance to the Department with regard to the Health Plan's compliance with State, Federal and other regulatory agencies, including acting as a liaison between the .Health Plan and State, Federal and other regulatory agency staff, assisting with reviews and audits to ensure compliance and researching of Federal and State legislation and regulations, for the period from April 23,2002 through April 30, 2003. Approval of Contract #27-501-2 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through April 30, 2004. BACKGRO ON( FOR RECOMMENDATION(SI On March 18, 2003, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement #27-555 with ViPS, Iric., in an amount not to exceed $86,000 for the period from February 1, 2003 through January 31, 2004 for the provision of Healthcare Employee Data Information Set (HEDIS) software. The negotiated price of$86,000 was based upon a three-year commitment between County and ViPS, Inc. Due to the cost of setting up the HEDIS software, a one-year Contract would be considerably more expensive. The Department is requesting that Board Order (C.29) be corrected to accurately reflect the intent of the parties,which was to have a three-year agreement,not to exceed$258,000. BAiCKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION The Health Plan is mandated by State of California and the.Federal Government to provide certain administrative statistical data in the Healthcare Employee Data Information Set (HEDIS). ViPS, Inc.'s-software will allow the Health Plan to meet the State's HEDIS reporting requirements. ViPS,,Inc. has requested to be held harmless and indemnified for County's use of the software, as a condition*of licensing the software for County's use. In the view of County Risk Management this indemnification will create a minimal potential loss. The Health Services Department desires to expedite approval of the Agreement as written. Approval of Agreement#27-555 will allow the Contractor to license, install, implement, and support I-IEDIS software for the period from February 1, 2003 through January 31, 2004.
