FINANCIAL IMPACT!
No County Costs. $1,100,000 Workforce Investment Act; 100% Federal.
RACKGRO]UND!
The current Workforce Investment Act regulation requires that up to 70% of the Workforce Investment Act
(WIA) Youth Allocation be designated for in-school youth services and a minimum of 30% of the allocation
be designated for out-of-school youth services. Both, in-school and out-of-school services are predicated on
providing ten required academic and occupational service elements. Further, the Act mandates that fallow-
up services be provided to all youth who exit or complete services for a minimum of 12 months. The
Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) on behalf of the Workforce Development Board
(WDB) will develop contracts with that focus on in-school youth, out-of-school youth and follow-up services
through the issuance of RFP #1075 to solicit servicesin each category, as well as geographically, for Fiscal
Year 2003-2004.
At the Workforce Development Board May 2002 meeting, the WDB accepted the Youth Council's
recommendation to issue an RFP for all youth development services
