Klute Date' March 5, 2002 Page Ill. Reasons for Recommendations and Background. The Public Works Department is becoming increasingly dependant on GIS data to manage our operations. Essentially, every piece of information that we have can be tied to a map in some fashion. The role of the Cls Coordinator is to ensure that we are developing and utilizing this information effectively. This will include involvement in all phases of CIS development from needs assessment through final implementation. In addition, this person will be responsible for coordinating Public Works activity with the Geographic Information Officer as well as the GIS Technical AdvisoryCommittee'to ensure that our department goals coincide with the County- Wide effort. IV. Consequences of Negative Action. The City of Oakland acts as the federal,° grantee' for HOPWA funds for Alameda and Contra Costa Counties and has entered into a contract '' with Contra Costa County to provide supportive services for County residents with HIV/,AIDS and their families. This Contract meets the social needs of the population of the County by providing housing-related advocacy, referrals, and placement services to County residents living with HIV/AIDS to improve and/or maintain their health status and promote stability in their lives. On April 3, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract t#22-435-8 with Catholic Charities of the East :Bay, to provide housing advocacy services for people with HIV Disease, for the period from March 1, 2001 through February 28, 2002 . Approval of Contract #22-435-9 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through February 28, 2003 .
