This project has been created in chase collaboration with the Contra Costa County Children and Families Policy Forum, the County Afterschool Task Force, local .school districts, and artists and arts organizationsfrom 'throughout the region. The A4A project's objectives are: increased access to afterschool programs, increased quality of afterschool programs, and academic progress among participating children and youth. Federal fonds will specifically be used to augment salaries to be paid to the Project Coordinator and to participating artists. Diablo Unified School District, and the Department 's Public health ' Division, for the Vista Oaks Occupational Medicine Clinic, have collaborated to bring TB testing and reading 'services ' to MDUSD .',facilities . BACKGROUNM CaIWIN, a welfare automation system, is being jointly developed and implemented by eighteen (18) counties in California, CalWIN is the welfare service delivery and tracking system for programs including cash and food benefits, employment services, general assistance, medical benefits, and foster care. This system will run on a Windows 2000 platform with use of Microsoft Office 2000 software applications. The process of migrating to a new system requires implementing training initiatives to enhance Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD)personnel's overall computer skills. The training initiatives include e-learning to increase the speedand efficiency of training delivery and the ability to track the training and learning process of EHSD personnel. E-learning is a method to integrate learning and performance support into EHSD staff's day-to-day work. NETg was selected to,provide the on-line computer software tutorials through a competitive procurement, Request for Interest (RFI) #150. Approximately 1,600 EHSD employees will access twenty (20) courses linked via the EHSD.intranet. The NETg course curriculum includes introduction to PCs and Application Software, Introduction to the Internet and World Wide Web, Microsoft Word 2000, Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, Microsoft Excel 2000, Microsoft Outlook 2000, Microsoft Access 2000, Microsoft Project 2000 for all competency levels (fundamentals, proficient users, and expert users), MS Windows 2000 User Fundamentals, and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 User Fundamentals, NETg will provide Search and Select and XtremeLearning options which allow the user to customize their computer training by:selecting the proficiency level and course curriculum to meet their individual needs. These options,permit users to access training through the internet from any location, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
