The Second Lease Amendment has been negotiated to add Suite 100, consisting of 1,747
rentable square feet to the existing leased premises at 2520 Stanwell Drive, Concord, as

SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
1. APPROVE the Second Amendment to the Lease with the FjeldFamily Limited Partnership to add
an additional 1,747 square feet of office space, to the leased premises at 2520 Stanwell Drive,
Concord, California, for use by Community Services Department, under the terms and conditions
more particularly set forth in the Lease.
2. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services to execute the Amendment on behalf of the
County.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of the Second Amendment will increase the rental cost by $12,186 for FY 2001/2002. Th
additional`„ rental payment cost for the duration of the lease term through June 30, 2004 is $80,319.
The increased rental costs will be funded from Federal and State grants and contracts. The rental
payments are included in the Community Services Department's indirect costs, which are allocated to
grant and contract funded programs. No County General Funds are required'.
BACKGROUND
The Community Services Department has leased office space at 2520 Stanwell Drive in Concord
since April 1999. The Second Amendment to the Lease will provide an additional 1,747 rental square
feet of office space to allow the Community Services Department to consolidate related administrative
functions'in one location. The lease term for the additional space will commence February 15, 2002
and terminate June 30, 2004. The lease provides the County with two 3-year renewal options.
