Broadway Area Infrastructure Project. Project No.: 0662-684125-01 SPECIFIC REQUESTS)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION 1. Recommended Action: AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute Amendment Number 1 to Consulting Services Agreement with Mali Cooper'&Associates, Inc.,effective January 1,20302 in the amount of$20,000 for anew total of$95,000 and extend the completion date till June 3f, 2002 for the N. Broadway Area Infrastructure Project. 11. Financial Impact: There will be no impact on the County General Fund. DATE: MARCH 19, 2002 PAGE'' 2 of 2 Ill. Reasons for Recommendations and Background; Can July 17, 2001, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Public Works Director to execute a Consultant Services Agreement with Vali Cooper& Associates, Inc. in the amount of$75,000 to provide construction management services for the N. Broadway Area Infrastructure Project. Construction activities began on August 20, 2001 and were accepted by the Board on February 26, 2002. The contractor's operation was delayed by the early winterweather and utility conflicts.The County, with assistance from the consultant is currently negotiating over the extra days, final contract amounts, and notice of potential claims. It is anticipated the final pay should be submitted soon. The consultant experienced increased cost, due to the longer duration of the project. The project was estimated to be completed on December 13, 2001.The consultant has staffed the project for the remainder of December and January and are now assisting the County in the project closure. Vali Cooper-& Associates was selected for the contract from a field of eight consulting firms. IV.! Consequences of Negative Action: If the consultant Services Agreement with Vali Cooper &Associates, Inc. is not approved, it may, not be possible to complete inspections.
