Specific Request(s)or Recommendation(s)&Background&Justification I. Recommended Action: AUTHORIZE the Public Works Directorto execute a Consulting Services Agreementwith Berryman & Henigar for the 2001 Asphalt Rubber Cape Seal Project in the amount of $35,000 to provide construction management services. II. Financiallmpact: There will be no impact on the County General Fund. The Consulting Services Agreement is for $35,000 and shall be paid for by State Traffic Congestion Funds (100%). Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The construction contract for the 2001 Asphalt Rubber Cape Seal Project was awarded to the lowest responsible bidder on June 26, 2001. Construction activities are expected to begin on July 23,,2001 and the Consulting Services Agreement is due to expire on December 31, 2001. The construction management services include construction engineering, project management, and construction inspection. Berryman & Henigar was selected for this contract from a field of eight consulting firms. IV. Corisequences of Negative Action: I If the Consultant Services Agreement with Berryman & Henigar is not approved, it may not be possible to complete construction of the approved project.
