BACKGROUND: On 8 MAY 01 the Board approved Item SD-6: a HEARING to consider adoption of Resolution 2002/182 amending the itemized professional and services rates for Contra Costa County Health Services effective June 1, 2001, as recommended by the Health Services Director. In approving the rates, the Board DIRECTED that the Health Services Department report to the Board on the number of Unannounced Inspections by the Hazardous Materials Programs. The attached report is submitted per the directive. Pascalli, Jr., Direct r Hazardous Materials Programs Subj : BOARD REQUEST FOR UNA UNCED INSPECTIONS PERFORMED At the 8 MAY 01 Board Meeting, the Board approved item SD.6: HEARING to consider adoption of Resolution 2001/182 amending the itemized professional and services rates for Contra Costa County Health Services effective June 1, 2001 as recommended by the Health Services Director. The Board requested that the Department report to the Board on the number of Unannounced Inspections made by the Hazardous Materials Programs. This is the requested report. The training needed to bring the staff up to the standard of performing the Unannounced Inspections was completed in JAN 01. To date the Hazardous Materials Programs has performed four (4) Unannounced Inspections: 26-28 FEB 01 - Pittsburg Water Treatment Plant 6-9 MAR 01 - Tosco Refinery, Rodeo 16-17 APR 01 - Hasa, Inc., Pittsburg 18 —20 JUN 01 - Chevron Refinery, Richmond. Another Unannounced Inspection is scheduled for JUL 01. If there are any questions, I will be available to answer them. 1
