FINANCIAL IMPACT: The estimated project cost for the Curb Ramps Program (Countywide)-Citizen Requested will not exceed 550,000.00 annually, funded by Road Funds (100%). i11. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The purpose of this project is to install ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) curb ramps, .so that the mobility impaired can have access to facilities such as bus stops, stores, schools, and the neighborhood in general. This is a continuous countywide program to enable Contra Costa County to respond to the mobility impaired citizen requests, as needed. This program will be implemented in unincorporated portions of the county and will not require permits from any of the cities within Contra Costa County. The project consists of removing existing curb, gutter, and sidewalk at various intersection confers within the county and replacing them with up to four ADA curb ramps at each intersection, per citizen request (Fig.2). Individual locations may require the installation of retaining walls, however,no retaining walls in excess of 3 feet will be installed. No road widening is required for this program. Activities may impact the root systems of some trees. In order to minimize darnage to any of the affected trees, any roots exposed during excavation will be cut cleanly. If necessary, tree branches will be trimmed cleanly. No native trees greater than 6-inch DBH will be removed. No stands of trees will be affected (Native nor non-native). In addition, any oak tree root systems greater than 6-inch in diameter (DBH) that are exposed during excavation shall be wrapped with wet burlap to minimize shock. Some utilities and storm drain inlets may need to be adjusted, but no additional storm drains will be installed and no additional right of way will be needed. Street signs and stop signs may need to removed and replaced at various intersections. Minor traffic control will be implemented at some locations; however, one lane will be open in each direction. The project has been determined to be in compliance with the General Plan and is exempt from CEQA.The project involves the minor alteration of existing public facilities involving no expansion of use beyond previously existing. The project will not result in the removal of any scenic resource. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Delay in approving the project will result in a delay of design and construction and may jeopardize funding. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The estimated project cost for the Curb Ramps Program (Countywide)-Citizen Requested will not exceed $50,000.00 annually, funded by Road Funds (100%). III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONBACKGROUND: The purpose of this project is to install ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) curb ramps, so that the mobility impaired can have access to facilities such as bus stops, stores, schools, and the neighborhood in general. This is a continuous countywide program to enable Contra Costa County to respond to the mobility impaired citizen requests, as needed. This program will be implemented in unincorporated portions of the county and will not require permits from any of the cities within Contra Costa County. The project consists of removing existing curb, gutter, and sidewalk at various intersection corners within the county and replacing them with up to four ADA curb ramps at each intersection, per citizen request (Fig.2). Individual locations may require the installation of retaining walls, however,no retaining walls in excess of 3 feet will be installed. No road widening is required for this program. Activities may impact the root systems of some trees. In order to minimize damage to any of the affected trees, any roots exposed during excavation will be cut cleanly.
