SUBJECT: P-300 Request to Add one Permanent Full-Time Public Health Nurse Program
Manager Position in the Public Health Division
The attached P-300 requests to add one Public Health Nurse Program Manager position in the
Public 1 iealth Division.
The Public Health Division has an urgent need to create a Public Health Nurse Program Manager
position for California Children's Services (CCS) to coordinate the activities of and provide
clinical direction and supervision to Public Health Nurses and other licensed medical care
personnel. The Department has received a letter from the State Department of Health Services
indicating that the CCS program does not meet minimum staffing requirements and the budget
for FY 2000-2001 will not be approved until we provide documentation that critical staffing
needs are addressed (see attached). The document specifies that one FTE nurse program manager
position approved in the previous years'budget must be created and filled.
This position will report to the California' Children's Services Administrator, which is also
currently vacant due to the recent resignation of the incumbent.
The annual cost associated with this request is $66,900 and is available through miscellaneous
health projects.
