SUBJECT: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Department Director, or
designee, to RENEW the interagency agreement the Contra Costa County Office of Education
(#18-002-1) for telephone line charges and internet access for the EASTBAY Works One-Stop
Career Centers in the County and in the City of Richmond with a payment limit of$45,000 for
the period July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION*
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Department Director, or designee, to
RENEW the interagency agreement the Contra Costa County Office of Education (#18-002-1) for telephone line
charges and internet access for the EASTBAY Works One-Stop Career Centers in the County and in the City of
Richmond with a payment limit of$45,000 for the period July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002.
FINANCIAL IMPACT-
No County Costs. U.S. Department of Labor Workforce Investment Act funding; 100%.
C.HILDRENIS IMPACT STATEMENT-
This action will directly support the third outcome, "Families that are Economically Self-Sufficient".
Activities under this contract will provide an avenue for job search and potential employment for
participants.
RACKGROTIND-
On June 15, 1999 (Item # C. 123) and again on February 27, 2001 (Item # C.90) the Board of Supervisors
authorized the execution of an interagency agreement with the Contra Costa County Office of Education for
line charges, technical support and Internet access for the EASTBAY Works One-Stop Career Centers in
Contra Costa County and the City of Richmond.
Telephone line charges and Internet access fees for the One-Stop Career Centers in the City of Richmond will
be covered in this agreement with CCCOE but will be offset by savings through another agreement with the
Richmond Workforce Investment Board.
This action will enable the County to continue its relationship with the Contra Costa County Office of
Education drawing the benefits of discounted Internet access and further collaboration in EASTBAY Works
and EASTBAY Learns.
