July 9, 1991. The Council advises the Board on the implementation of the County's
Affirmative Action Plan, Outreach Program, and Small Business Enterprise Program.
The Advisory Council consists of eleven members as follows:
► two representing County management,
► two representing employee organizations,
► four representing women, minorities and other protected groups,
► one representing disabled,
► one representative of outreach,
► one representative of labor organizations.
The two employee organization seats are for two year terms and are rotated as follows:
Seat#1 Seat#2
SEN, Local 535 Deputy Sheriffs Association
AFSCME, Local 512 California Nurses Association
DA Investigators Public Employees, Local 1
Firefighters, Local 1230 AFSCME, Local 2700
The two County management seats are for two years and are appointed by the County
Administrator. The other seats are for three years and are solicited by the Advisory
Council. All applicants are interviewed by the Council; recommendations are forwarded
to the IO Committee; and the IO Committee may appoint the recommended candidates or
they may conduct their own interviews and select the new Advisory Council members.
One of the Community representative member seats and the Disabled representative
member seat is currently vacant.
Recruitment of Applicants
In accordance with the October 12, 1999 memorandum from the IO Committee to
Department Heads responsible for staffing selected advisory bodies, the Advisory
Council on Equal Employment Opportunity mailed letters and applications to various
community groups and interested persons. Two applications were received. (See
attachments enclosed.) The applicants were invited for an interview at the April 27"' and
May 18th , 2001 Advisory Council meetings.

type of commitment needed for effective participation on the Advisory Council. Mr.
George Hunter's work and life experiences showed a genuine interest and concern with
matters relating to affirmative action issues and disabled veterans and their families.
Recommendation
The Advisory Council recommended Mr. Turner and Mr. Hunter be selected as a member
of the Advisory Council.

Education/Background:
I believe my academic training, significant experience in the employment field,

Community Activities:
My community activities at this time primarily consist of assisting veterans in over
coming barriers to employment and church outreach programs. I visit the Bay
