SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Milt
Camhi) , to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement
427.-169-3 with Brookside Community Health Center, effective April 1, 2001 to
amend Contract #27-169-2 to make technical adjustments to the compensation
language to comply with the State Department of Health Services regulations .
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Amendment #27-169-3 , will allow the State Department of Health Services
to perform the reconciliation to determine Contractor' s reasonable costs .
The State Department of Health Services will pay to or recover from
Contractor the difference between the amount paid by County and Contractor' s
reasonable costs .
This Contract is funded by Contra Costa Health Plan (Health Plan) member
premiums . Costs depend upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or
third party payors will be billed for services .
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) :
On January 25, 2000, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-169-2
with Brookside Community Health Center, from the period from January 1, 2000
through December 31, 2001 . Brookside Community Health Center is a
Federally-Qualified Health Center (FQHC) doing business in West County, and
is a traditional provider of medical care to Medi-Cal beneficiaries in that
area.
The Health Plan, as the local initiative for Medi-Cal managed care in Contra
Costa County, is required under the terms of its contract with the State to
make FQHCs a part of the provider network in those cases where agreements
can be reached that are acceptable to both the FQHC and the Local
Initiative .
This Contract Amendment Agreement #27-169-3 will make technical adjustments
to the compensation language to comply with the State Department of Health
Services regulations and allow the Contractor to continue providing services
through December 31 , 2001 .
