SUBJECT: Contract Amendment with Richard Bachman, DVM to increase the payment
limit.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Animal Services Director, or designee, to contract (#47035)
with Richard Bachman, DVM (dba Northtown Animal Hospital) increasing the payment limit by
$87,600 to a new payment limit of $150,000 to provide consulting veterinarian services
through December 31, 2001

BACKGROUND:
Dr. Bachman has been and will continue developing and implementing a veterinary medical
program for County Animal Shelters, assisting in the veterinary medical aspects of designing a
new County animal shelter(s), diagnosing and treating impounded animals at the County
Animal Shelter, developing and implementing standard operating procedures and guidelines
for veterinary medical care of County's impounded animals, and providing training to County's
staff on the care of impounded animals. Dr. Bachman also performs other veterinary medical
work as directed by the Animal Services Director.
