INCREASING THE CONTRACT PAYMENT LIMIT FROM $60,038.08 TO $68,518.08 FOR THE REPAIR OF THE LOT 150 RED PINE LANDSLIDE REPAIR AND INTERCEPTOR DITCH REPLACEMENT PROJECT, DANVILLE, CALIFORNIA. (WO #5147) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMF.NDAIION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: RATIFY the decision of William R. Gray and Company, as General Manager of the Blackhawk Geologic Hazard Abatement District (GHAD), to issue a contract change order in the amount of $8,480.00 to Siteworks Construction, Inc. increasing the contract payment limit from $60„038.08 to $68,518.08 regarding the Lot 150 Red Pine Landslide Repair and Interceptor Ditch Replacement Project. 11. Financial Impact: There is no impact on the County General Fund. Reasons for Recommendation and Background: A contract was awarded to Siteworks Construction, Inc. on February 6, 2001 in the amount of $60,038.08 to repair a landslide that occurred on the southwest side of the hill below 256 Red Pine Court, as well as a concrete ditch in the vicinity that was also deficient. Prior to the Contractor being able to mobilize to the repair site, the main access route was compromised, requiring the Contractor to develop alternative access to the work area. Additionally, the Contractor was asked to provide pumping equipment to accommodate the additional pumping distance, and make provisions for demolition and restoration of existing facilities and vegetation affected to gain access. These changes resulted in significantly more cost to the Contractor than was originally anticipated at the time of award of the contract. As a result, it was necessary to provide the Contractor with a Contract Change Order in the amount of$8,480.00 to cover the increased costs. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The change order has been issued and the work completed. Board action is necessary to ratify the General Manager's decision to issue the Change Order and complete this project.
