Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The County has been granted Federal funds to replace the Bethel Island Road Bridge. As part of the design process, soil borings will be required in the vicinity of the new bridge abutments and approach roadways which are in RD 799's jurisdiction. RD 799 agrees to permit the soil borings if the County agrees to a one-year indemnification for the borings. The County agrees to repair any seepage that may develop along the perimeter of the borings for a period of one year after the date the borings are completed. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The Bethel Island Bridge Replacement Project cannot be designed, or built, without the information derived from these soil borings.
