SUBJECT: Pleasant Hill BART Charrette County
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Deputy Director — Redevelopment to execute a Second
Amendment to contract with Lennertz Coyle & Associates for additional scope, and additional
budgetary authority of $36,200, for a design charrette for the BART property at the Pleasant
Hill BART Station in an amended total amount not to exceed $311,300.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Redevelopment funds only have been budgeted for this purpose. The costs of the design
charrette will be reimbursed to the Agency by the BART property developer upon submittal of
entitlement applications once the charrette program has been completed.
BACKGROUND:
The Pleasant Hill ,BART Specific Plan Amendments of 1998 included a provision for a
Community Planning Program for the BART property (Areas 11/12). The Community Planning
Program was a way to learn from the past, to capture the interest of the present, and to direct
it to realizing the significant community development potential of the BART property at the
Pleasant Hill BART Station. Design charrettes are currently taking place. The charrettes have
been well attended and productive. Additional consultant tasks, including CAD services, TDR
services, and Visual Preference services, aerial and axeometric renderings, and followup
workshops on the coding documents, have resulted from these charrettes. Approval. of this
contract amendment will allow payment of these additional s rvices.
