RECOMMENDATION: . AUTHORIZE and APPROVE the Director of General Services or designee, to sign a contract extension/amendment agreement with David Silva for continuation of property management consultation services. to extend the term of the contract from April 30, 2001 through December 31, 2001 and to increase the payment limit from $75,000 to a total payment limit of$125,000. Il. FISCAL IMPACT: These services are requested and paid for by customer departments, and the costs of the contract are 100% charged out. The costs of this contract are salary ($40.00 per hour). 111. BACKGROUND: The Lease Management Division of General Services is still in the process of being reorganized. The Lease Manager examination is currently in progress, and it may take several months before a final decision is made. The Assistant Lease Manager has been'Acting Lease Manager for approximately one year. During the period of time, a Senior Real Property Agent has retired and an Associate Real Property Agent has been reassigned, leaving the Division with three vacant positions. We have been utilizing the services of two contract employees since July. Both of these contract people now have experience working with County customers and have become familiar with the County policies and procedures. Until a decision is made regarding the appropriate organization and staffing levels of the Division (which will not occur until a .final selection for Lease Manager has been made), it is desirable to retain the services of these two individuals.
