HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04242001 - C.11 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on April 24, 2001 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Gioia, Gerber, Glover and Uilkema NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor DeSaulnier ABSTAIN: None RESOLUTION NO.2001/ 159 SUBJECT: A resolution to APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County of Contra Costa to apply for, accept, and appropriate 2001 San Francisco Bay Trail Regional Development Program Funds in the amount of$75,000 for a planning grant for the Carquinez Scenic Bicycle Path, Martinez area. WHEREAS, in 1987 the California State Legislature authorized the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) to develop and adopt a plan for a continuous recreational corridor which will extend around the perimeter of San Francisco and San Pablo Bays; and WHEREAS, the California State Legislature approved $7.5 million in FY 2001-2002 to the State Coastal Conservancy for a San Francisco Bay Trail Regional Development Grant Program (RDP); and WHEREAS, the Association of Bay Area Governments' Bay Trail Program is responsible for administrating the program; and WHEREAS, the County of Contra Costa desires to apply for 2001 RDP funds in the amount of$75,000 to perform geotechnical studies along a two mile section of Carquinez Scenic Drive, to study alternative routes, and develop an action plan for the opening of the Carquinez Scenic Bicycle Path; and WHEREAS, the conversion of the Carquinez Scenic Drive to a bicycle path is consistent with the goals of the Contra Costa Countywide Bicycle Action Plan and the County's General Plan; and therefore, be it RESOLVED; That the Board of Supervisors 1. Approves the submission of an application for funding under the 2001 RDP; and 2. Approves acceptance of the grant if awarded; and 3. Designates the Public Works Director as the County's authorized representative; and 4. Authorizes the execution of the grant contract and related documents. hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
