Contra Costa DATE: April 11, 2001 •.` County SUBJECT: Approval of Grant Agreement #28-666 with San Francisco Foundation SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D. ) to execute on behalf of the County, Grant Agreement #28-666 (C=2001-0263) from the San Francisco Foundation, in an amount not to exceed $75, 000, for the period from February 1, 2001 through January 31, 2003 , for the Contra Costa Youth Mobilization Project . FINANCIAL IMPACT: This Grant Agreement funded by San Francisco Foundation will result in a two year project period for the Contra Costa Youth Mobilization Project, in an amount not to exceed $75, 000 . No County funds are required. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Contra Costa Youth Mobilization Project will develop youth activists in East Contra Costa County to makepositive changes in their communities as well as in themselves . The goal of the project is to build skills and capacities of the youth, ages 13-18 , in Bay Point to improve their community by identifying local issues important to youth and developing and implementing at least two youth-drive community improvement projects . The Grantor has requested to be held harmless and indemnified as part of their standard for approval of the Grant Agreement #28-666 (C-2201-0263) with the County. Except for funding this Project, San Francisco Foundation will have no direct involvement in the implementation of this Project . Therefore, in the view of County Risk Management this indemni- fication will create a minimal potential loss . The Health Services Department desires to expedite approval of the Agreement as written. Approval of this Grant Agreement #28-666 will provide funding for a two year project through January 31, 2003 . Three certified copies of the Board Order should be returned to the Contracts and Grants Unit .
