' ':• COSTA COUNTY FROM: Supervisor Gayle B.Uilkema Chair,Board of Supervisors DATE: April 10,2001 SUBJECT: Update on Constitutional Amendment Proposal SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S): ACCEPT the report from the Chair, Board of Supervisors, on the current status of CSAC's investigation on the feasibility of a constitutional amendment to protect local revenues. BACKGROUNDlREASON(Sl FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): The Board of Directors of CSAC (California State Association of Counties) met on April 5, 2001. Among the agenda items was a status report on the feasibility of a constitutional amendment on the 2002 ballot that would help protect local government revenues. The feasibility study has included a statewide survey and focus groups. It is expected that the CSAC Board of Directors will be asked to make a decision on proceeding with the ballot initiative at a special meeting scheduled in May.
