Ross, Director of Animal Services �r^� Costa County CESTA , �•�P Date: February 8, 2001 Subject: Donation from Contra Costa Humane Society RECOMMENDATIONS: APPROVE the recommendations of the County Administrator to accept donations of veterinary medical equipment from the Contra Costa Humane Society for use in the new or current animal shelters. ACCEPT donation of used veterinary medical equipment valued at over $10,000 from the Contra Costa Humane Society for use in its facilities for the care of the animals. BACKGROUND: The Contra Costa Humane Society has offered to donate used veterinary medical equipment valued at over $10,000 to the Animal Services Department for use in the care of the animals at the animal shelters. The Animal Services Department has examined the equipment and has found that it could be appropriately used in the new shelter. The department will be able to store equipment on its premises until the new shelter is completed. Equipment is listed below: 1 Stainless steel surgical table 1 Wet treatment table 1 Isoflurane anesthesia machine 1 Electro cautery 1 Incubator 1 Tray on wheels 1 Suction pump 2 Animals cages 3 Surgery packs 1 Ultrasonic instrument cleaner 1 High intensity surgical light 1 Autoclave 1 Cryosurgery 1 Wet tray 2 Stainless steel examination tables 3+ Jars for sponges and misc 2 Small refrigerators 1 Cavitron 2 Rechargeable otoscipes 1 Teeth polisher 2 Pairs of clippers 1 Digital weighing scale 1 Black light 3+ Miscellaneous instruments 3+ Orthopedic ink spins Estimated total value $10,669. Ross,Animal Services Director/o/ Re: Donation of Equipment From Contra Costa Humane Society The Contra Costa Humane Society has offered to donate almost $11,000 of used veterinary medical equipment to the Animal Services Department for its new shelter. We have examined the equipment and believe it would be appropriate for use in the new facility. We can provide storage for the equipment at the Pinole Shelter trailer until the new facility is ready. The equipment is listed below. Valuing it at half the retail cost, is shown as the estimated value.
