DATE: MARCH 27, 2001
SUBJECT: APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSULTING SERVICES
AGREEMENT FOR THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY TENANT IMPROVEMENTS IN THE
COUNTY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 100-37TH STREET, RICHMOND (WH404B)
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION(S):
1. APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Administrator, or designee, to execute an Amendment to
the Consulting Services Agreement with Muller & Caulfield Architects, increasing the payment limit
by $91,002 to a new payment limit of $165,642 for architectural services related to the District
Attorney tenant improvements at the County Administration Building, 100-37th Street, Richmond.
2. AUTHORIZE the County Administrator, or designee, to execute the Amendment and to issue
written authorizations for extra work, provided that the cumulative total extra cost for all such
authorizations shall not exceed $25,000.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
These Amendments could increase the payment limit in aggregate by up to $116,002. Adequate
funds for these Amendments are included in the project budget.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
This project involves the remodeling of the second floor of the Richmond Administration Building to
suit requirements of the District Attorney. Muller & Caulfield Architects was selected to provide
architectural services for projects such as this by the Architectural Selection Committee after
interviews on April 13, 1999. A Consulting Services Agreement was executed on September 28, 1999
to provide Schematic and Design Development drawings. Four- Amendments to the Consulting
Services Agreement for extra work have been previously executed in accordance with Section 14 of
the Agreement. Amendment 5 reflects expanded services to complete the Construction Documents,
Bidding, and Construction Administration phases of the above referenced project. This project also
includes relocating the Veterans Service Office to improved and more accessible space on the first
floor. When finished, the District Attorney can vacate their existing first floor offices thereby freeing
space for an additional courtroom.
