HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02062001 - P.3 Board of Supervisors Contra Costa County, State of CaCifornia IN SUPPORT AND RECOGNITION OF THE RESOLUTION NO. 2001/17 CONTRA COSTA COUNTY COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT'S FAMILY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES POLICY COUNCIL AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL WHEREAS, THE FAMILY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES PROGRAM is a comprehensive, federally funded child development program serving over 1,900 low income children 0 to 5 years old and pregnant women in Contra Costa County, at least 10% of which are children with disabilities; and WHEREAS,THE FAMILY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES PROGRAM acknowledges that parents are the most important influence on a child's development and upholds parent involvement as the cornerstone of its' program, giving parents the important role of shared decision making in all aspects of the program; and WHEREAS,THE FAMILY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES PROGRAM emphasizes the importance of early intervention and prevention of health problems by ensuring that every child has a medical and dental home in the community and by providing direct services in the areas of health, mental health and nutrition; and WHEREAS,THE FAMILY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES POLICY COUNCIL is comprised of parent and community volunteers who, with the Board of Supervisors, the Community Services Department Executive Director, and the Family and Children's Services Director, share in the decision making process regarding all aspects of the Family and Children's Services program; and WHEREAS,THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL is comprised of volunteers from the community who, along with the Board of Supervisors, and the Community Services Department Executive Director, support the Community Services Department mission to support low income families and individuals of Contra Costa County to move out of poverty into self-sufficiency through the provision of comprehensive quality services; and WHEREAS,BOTH THE FAMILY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES POLICY COUNCIL AND THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL work diligently to promote the health and well-being of the county's economically disadvantaged residents and support them in their efforts to help themselves. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby celebrates and commends the dedicated work of the members of the Family and Children's Services Policy Council and the Economic Opportunity Council and supports their efforts in helping low-income residents to achieve self-sufficiency.
