HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02062001 - C.27 `. 97 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of recognizing the retirement of ) Gary Brown and expressing appreciation for ) the contribution he has made to the County of) Contra Costa during 36 years of service ) RESOLUTION NO. 2001/29 Whereas, Gary Brown, a Political Science major, graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in June of 1964 and earned a Master of Public Administration degree in January 1967; and Whereas, Gary began his employment with Contra Costa County on October 15, 1964 as an Appraiser's Aide in the County Assessor's Office, transferred to the Office of the County Administrator as an Administrative Analyst I on June 1, 1965, was promoted to higher level management positions and was appointed Deputy County Administrator in October 1979; and Whereas, during his career Gary has worked on projects for most County departments including budget development, financial analysis, staffing studies, legislative analysis and special projects such as establishment of the General Services and Community Development Departments; and Whereas, .in March 1988 Gary assumed the position of Director of the County Office of Emergency Services and during his ten years in such a position strengthened disaster preparedness cooperation among the County, cities, special districts and the State and coordinated the provision of assistance to local communities following the Loma Prieta Earthquake and several years of serious flooding throughout the County; and Whereas, Gary assumed the position of Director of the Office of Revenue Collection in July 1998 and has implemented many organizational and procedural changes which have resulted in improved employee morale and increased revenue production; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board publicly recognizes and expresses its sincere appreciation to Gary Brown for his thirty-six years of service to Contra Costa County; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board extends to Gary and his wife Kathy, its best wishes for good health and a long and happy retirement.
