citizen and longtime activist from West Pittsburg.

an older sister in Maria County un-

The table was crowded with children,
but they never went hungry. Her
brothers got jobs at the steel m01 and
the women in the household made
pasta, which they sold from their
home.
Elaine took a secretarial job with
the Pittsburg city attorney.fn 1935,
sloe married and had a rhitd,Danny.
The marriage ended and Elaine went
to work at Camp Stoneman as a
clerk-typist.
There she met and fall in love
with Arthur'Null.
This marriage produced another
son, Kenneth, and lasted until
Arthur's death in 1988.
From 1968 to 1973,Elaine worked
as manager at the comity Housing
Authority, where she oversaw 300
low-income housing units from Fort
Chicago to Oakley. In"1995, the
county honored Elaine by-naming a
new 14-unit low-income apartment

Elaine,of course,pointed out the
