Donald Funk, former resident of Martinez, and Contra Costa County's Auditor/Controller from 1966 through 1978. Mr. Funk served as the President of the State Association of County Auditors; and was a key member of the group that wrote the "Accounting Standards and Procedures for Counties" manual. THIS IS A MATTER FOR RECORD PURPOSES ONLY NO BOARD ACTION WAS TAKEN el July 11, 2000 1 was informed yesterday that H. Donald Funk recently passed away at the age of 84. Don was the Contra Costa County Auditor-Controller from 1966 through 1978. Don was the Auditor-Controller when I first started working in the Office and I remember him as being extremely knowledgeable, dedicated and thorough in his work. Don served a year as the President of the State Association of County Auditors; he was also a key member of the group that wrote the Accounting Standards and Procedures for Counties manual. Ken Corcoran Following is the obituary from the newspaper in Green Valley, Arizona where he lived during his retirement years. H. Donald "Don" Funk, 84 a resident of Green Valley, formerly from Martinez, Calif., passed away June 27, 2000. He was born in Lancaster, Pa.; a retired member of the California CPA Society; a member of A.I.C.P.A.; former Rotarian; and a graduate of University of California Berkley and the Harvard Business School. Survivors include: His wife, Edna; his children, Donna Shaw of Escondido, Calif., Don L. Funk of San Jose, Calif., Dorothy Bates of Aiken, S.C., and Roberta Simon of Hemet, Calif.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine Alvarez of Lancaster.
