Rupf, Sheriff-Coroner County DATE: May 15, 2000 SUBJECT: Approval of Forensic Services Contract with City of Concord SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff or designee to sign on behalf of the County an agreement with the City of CONCORD in an amount not to exceed $212,167 to provide forensic services for the period July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001. 11. FINANCIAL IMPACT: NONE. The revenue from this agreement is budgeted in the Sheriffs fiscal year 2000/2001 requested budget. III. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): The Forensic Services Division of the Sheriffs Office provides forensic services to law enforcement agencies on a fee-for-service basis. The Sheriffs Office and the City of CONCORD have agreed to an estimated fee for services provided to City during the term of the contract The estimated amount of the agreement is based upon previous years' services provided by the Forensic Services Division to city and may be adjusted (with Board Approval) for extraordinary circumstances. Execution of these agreements allow both the Sheriffs Office and the contracting agency to better budget for next fiscal year and simplify the time-intensive process of preparing monthly invoices. Rupf, Sheriff-Coroner County DATE: May 17, 2000 SUBJECT: Approval of Forensic Services Contract with San Ramon, Brentwood, Danville, EI Cerrito, Plttsburg,_and Lafayette SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION 1. RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff or designee to sign on behalf of the County an agreement with the following six cities in the amount specified to provide forensic services for the period July 1, 1998 through June 30, 2001: • City of SAN RAMON in an amount not to exceed $98,806; • City of BRENTWOOD in an amount not to exceed $61,805; • City of DANVILLE in an amount not to exceed $72,897; • City of EL CERRITO in an amount not to exceed $87,813; • City of PITTSBURG in an amount not to exceed $298,185; • City of LAFAYETTE in an amount not to exceed $57,181. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: NONE. The revenue from these agreements is budgeted in the Sheriffs fiscal year 1999/2000 and included in the Sheriff's fiscal year 2000/2001 requested budget. III. June 6 2000 County , ~ SUBJECT: Transfer Use of Two (2) Fire Apparatus from Contra Costa County Fire Protection District to the City of Pinole Fire Department SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Fire Chief to enter into two (2) Agreements for Temporary Transfer of Vehicular Equipment with the City of Pinole Fire Department, allowing Pinole Fire the use of the following fire apparatus to augment equipment resources in West Contra Costa County area: a Crown 1965 Pitman Snorkel Fire Truck, Unit 843, and a 1982 Westates Water Tender, Unit 737. FINANCIAL IMPACT WII result in reduced operating maintenance costs to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. Under new agreements, all fuel and minor repairs will be at City of Pinole's expense. BACKGROUND FOR RECOMM NDATIONS: During the past two (2) years, the Fire District has upgraded its fleet of aerial fire truck apparatus. The District is in the process of surplusing three (3) of its oldest aerial fire trucks. The 1965 Crown Snorkel is still a serviceable unit that has been re-powered and refurbished. The purpose of placing this unit in Pinole is to provide aerial fire truck capabilities in the San Pablo, EI Sobrante, Pinole, Rodeo, Hercules and adjoining areas. The Pinole Fire Station is the only one in the area at this time with room to house the Fire Truck. The 1982 Water Tender was purchased by Contra Costa County with Special District Augmentation funding and assigned to the City of Pinole Fire Department at that time. This was done to provide additional fire equipment resources in the West Contra Costa County area. In particular, the District area of Tara Hills which the District has under contract with the City of Pinole to provide fire protection. Both vehicles will remain the property of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, however, they will be staffed by the City of Pinole Fire Department personnel.
