HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04252000 - P2 2, The hoard of Supervisors Of Contra Costa County, State of California IN THE MATTER OF ] DECLARING THE FIRST FULL WEED.] BEGINNING ON APRIL 30,2000 AS ] Resolution No. 2000/191 ARSON AWARENESS WEEK IN ] CONTRA COSTA COUNTY l WHEREAS, arson is a serious crime that affects every person, and can only be stopped when citizens realize the severe damage that arson causes; and WHEREAS, in atypical year in the United States more that 500 people are killed and almost $2 Billion worth of property destroyed due to arson; and WHEREAS, arson disrupts our education systems with the destruction of irreplaceable buildings and artifacts, and WHEREAS, arson jeopardizes the lives of citizens and emergency service personnel; and WHEREAS, removing the threat of arson form homes and businesses is a top priority of Contra Costa County's fire and law enforcement investigative agencies, and the community at large; and WHEREAS, working together we can build a community-based coalition to support the efforts of public safety officials to control and prevent this terrible crime. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby declare the first full week of May.beginning on April 30, 2000 as ARSON AWARENESS WEEK in Contra Costa County, and the first full week of May shall be designated each year thereafter.
