(Specialty: Thoracic and Vascular Surgery) . This Contract Amendment Agreement will extend the term of the Contract through December 31, 2000, and modify the Contract payment provisions to allow Contractor to provide additional Vascular Surgery clinic coverage, including on-call coverage services, to be paid in accordance with the attached fee schedule. FISCAL IMPACT• Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services . BACKGROLND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATIONS : On April 14, 1998, the Board of Supervisors approved Medical Specialist Contract #26-928-3 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreements #26-928-4 and #26-928-5) , with Nils Parson M.D. Inc. , for the period from April 1, 1998 through March 31, 2000, to provide Thoracic and Vascular Surgery services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers. The need for Vascular Surgery services has increased, and as a result, Dr. Nils Parson has agreed to provide additional hours of Vascular Surgery services, including clinical coverage and on-call coverage services . Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-928--6 will allow Contractor to be paid for additional services, provided at the request of the Department, through December 31, 2000 . Health Plan, to be paid as follows: (1) $100. 00 per initial evaluation session; and (2) $70.00 for each additional therapy session. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded by Contra Costa Health Plan member premiums. Costs depend upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. The Health Plan has an obligation to provide professional psychiatric services for Health Plan members with mental health therapy services as a covered benefit. This population includes Medi-Cal, Medicare and Commercial members enrolled in the Health Plan. Approval of this Contract will allow the Contractor to continue providing mental health services to Health Plan members through December 31, 2000. On March 16, 1999, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #22-466-9 with the Pittsburg Pre-School Coordinating Council for the period from March 1, 1999 through February 29, 2000 for the provision of HIV/AIDS Benefits Assurances Counseling. BACKGROUND: On August 3, 1999 the Board authorized contracts (Item C.124) with various service providers for Welfare-to- Work clients in East County through the One-Stop Career Centers. St. Vincent de Paul is one of the service providers identified in this action. Funds used to amend this contract with St. Vincent de Paul will come from the amount allocated to the same agency for services in the Central County One-Stop Career Center. St. Vincent de Paul requested staffing reallocations among Center partners to house one full-time employee in the East County One-Stop Career Center.
