SUBJECT: Caldecut Tunnel Study Committee appointment
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Recommend appointing District Two Supervisor to the Caldecott Tunnel Study Committee as
representative of the Centra Costa County Board of Supervisors.
BACKGROUND:
The Metropolitan Transportation Committee, Alameda Congestion Management Agency, Contra Costa
Transportation Authority and Caltrans (Caldecott Tunnel Study Committee) has begun a study of State
Route 24/Caldecott Tunnel corridor to develop information on future options for improving mobility, including
the feasibility of a new, fourth Caldecott tunnel bore.
The entire Route 24 corridor, including the potential site for the fourth tunnel bore lies within District Two.
The Caldecott Tunnel Study Committee will convene in late July, 1999.
