IL FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The estimated contract cost of the project is $650,000, funded by Leasure C (100%)for Concord
Avenue Reconstruction and Local Funds (75%), City of Concord (25%) for Meridian Park
Boulevard Signal.
III, REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
The project is needed to replacelrepair existing roadway sections, which have experienced
significant wear, and to construct a traffic signal to replace existing stop signs.
The Public Works Director has filed with the board of Supervisors the Plans and specifications
for the project.
The general prevailing rates of gages, which shall be the minimum rates paid on this project, have
been filed with the Clerk of the board and copies will be made available to any interested party
upon request.
The board reviewed and approved the project on February 23, 1999 and determined the project
to be exempt from the California Environmental duality act as a Mass 2c Categorical Exemption.
A Notice of Exemption was filed with the County Clerk on February 23, 1999.
IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the project is not approved for advertising, it will not be constructed.

22037.

III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
The project is needed to improve traffic safety for the school children who walk across Arlington
Avenue,
The Public Works Director has filed with the Board of Supervisors the Plans and specifications
for the project.
The general prevailing rates of wages, which shall be the minimum rates paid on this project, have
been filed with the Clerk of the Board and copies will be made available to any interested party
upon request.
The Board reviewed and approved the project on January 19, 1999 and determined the project
to be exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act as a Mass 3 Categorical Exemption,
A Notice of Exemption was filed with the County Clerk on January 19, 1999.

6. The Dougherty Valley Oversight Committee has requested the starting date of the closure be pushed
back two-weeks. The Public Works Department is concerned that doing so may lead to the
disruption of traffic during the school year and recommends the closure remain as originally
subrnifted.
