BACKGROUM TREASON(s) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : On June 16, 1998, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract 4.24-792-4 with Ging-Long Wang, M.D. for the period from July 1, 1998 through June 30, 1999, to provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment for minors hospitalized by County at Walnut Creek Hospital, in lieu of placing minors in Contra Costa Regional. Medical Center pursuant to the Board of Supervisors Order of February 14, 1989 . Approval of Contract x#24"-792-5 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through Tune 30, 2000 . RECOMMENDED ACTION: Authorize the Executive Director, Contra Costa County Private Industry Council, to: 1. execute on behalf of the County standard farm Vocational Training Agreements with Vocational Training Institutions named on the attached "Vocational Training Institutions Listing", to provide training, at the tuition rates set forth in said agreements, to eligible enrollees under the Job Training Partnership Act (DTPA) Individual Referral Program, for the period beginning July 1, 1999 and ending June 30 2000; and 2. execute additional standard form agreements and amendment agreements with said Vocational Training Institutions as may be needed for periodic revisions, such as adding or deleting a training course, training fees and/or compliance revisions to State or Federal regulations/guidelines. 11. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Mone. 100 percent Federal funds. III. CHILDREN IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract is to provide vocational training to appropriate DTPA eligible participants. This will support the third outcome-- Families that are economically self-sufficient. IV. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION: By its Order dated May 4, 1999 the Board approved the County's Private Industry Council Job Training Plan Adjustment for 1999-2000 which includes funds for this training activity. The Individual Referral Training Program will provide vocational training to approximately 300 DTPA-eligible Contra Costa County residents during the period July 1, 1998 through Jun 2000. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION: The Contra Costa County PIC Board awarded Worldwide Education Services Welfare-to-Work grant funding at it's April 21, 1999 meeting to provide services to Welfare-to-Work clients in Central Contra Costa County except for the City of Richmond with employment,job readiness, placement, post-employment, support services and job retention, Worldwide Education Services has 23 years experience providing many of the required services and it currently provides Job Training Partnership Act services and acts as administrative and fiscal agent of the Central and West County One-Stop Career Centers. It will serve as the administrative and fiscal agent for Welfare-to-Work activities and will provide services at the Central County One- atop Career Center.
