Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The construction contract for the San Raman Creek Mitigation Planting Project was awarded to the lowest responsible bidder on April 6, 1999. Construction activities were expected to begin on May 10, 1999 and the contract is due to expire on February 1, 2000. The construction managment services include construction engineering, project managment and construction inspection. Harris and Associates, Inc. was awarded the contract from a field of ten consulting firms. IV. Consequences of Negative Action; If the Consultant Services Agreement with Harris and Associates, Inc. is not approved, it may not be possible to complete construction of the approved project. TO. Rich Building, 255 Glacier Drive, Martinez, California 94553-4897, until 2 o'clock p.m., on June 22, 1999, at which time they will be publicly opened and read, for: SAN RAMON CREEK EROSION REPAIR AT GREEN13ROOK COURT. General work description: The work consists of installing rock slope protection,engineered backfill, water control, fencing, and temporary fencing. Engineer's cost estimate: $80,000 A pre-bid meeting will be held on Monday, June 7, 1999, at 10:00 am. at the Public Works Department to cover the County's Bidder Outreach Program. Prospective bidders attendance is recommended but not mandatory. Contract Documents, including plans and specifications, may be viewed and/or obtained at the Public Works Department, C.C. Rich Building, 255 Glacier Drive, Martinez, California 94553- 4897, Monday - Thursday (7:00 am. - 12 Noon and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.) (closed Fridays). To obtain plans and specifications a service charge is required in the amount of $19.48 (sales tax included). Plans and specifications-may be ordered by mail for an additional shipping and hand&V,fee of $3.00. Checks shall be made payable to 'The County of Contra Costa! and be mailed to the above address. The Public Works Department does not guarantee the arrival of the plans and specifications in time for bidding. Plans and specifications will not be sent overnight mail. This contract is subject to state contract nondiscrimination and compliance requirements pursuant to Government Code, Section 12290. The Contractor shall possess a Class A or Class C-12 Contractor's License at the time the Contract is awarded.
